Winter Accessory Obsession: Faux Fur Stoles

After having a seasonably warm fall and winter, (I went to Christmas Eve dinner sans a coat or sleeves for that matter) these current winter temperatures may be taking us by storm. Although I would choose the heat over the cold any day, the one thing I do love about the colder temperatures is the winter accessories that come with it. My latest and current obsession in this category is without a doubt the faux fur stole.

What’s great about fur stoles is that they are just as conventional as they are stylish. When worn properly they have the ability to keep you very warm without you having to worry about losing style points. I’m a huge lover of all things faux fur, which comes as no surprise to those of you who know me. From a fabulous coat to a chic vest, if I’m wearing fur I’m feeling fabulous.

While I only have one faux fur stole at the moment (I’m sure that will be changing soon) I am obsessed with it. It’s a beautiful light colored version from Ecote that I bought at Urban Outfitter’s around this time last year. I’ve worn it countless times as a scarf with my winter coats and more recently I’ve even been styling it so it’s not just outerwear. I’ve been wearing it over sweaters and tops inside the office for an added layer of warmth and an extra dose of chic.

Ready to add this winter accessory to your closet? I’ve rounded up some of the most fashionable faux fur stoles out there so you can shop the look. Comment below to let me know which is your favorite. Happy Shopping!

City Nights Call for Little Suede Dresses

IMG_0067

Processed with MOLDIV

Textures, earth tones, and 70’s inspired frocks made up some of fall’s most fashionable trends this season and I couldn’t wait to try the looks for myself. When I came across this little suede mini dress from Marshall’s with a price tag of $19.99 I couldn’t wait for an excuse to wear it. That excuse came last weekend in the form of a night out in the city with my friends.

I wanted the suede dress to be the focal point of my look, but since it was a simple piece I decided to add my favorite accessory-a statement necklace of course! I opted for a pair of nude ankle strap heels and kept the rest of my jewelry minimal by only adding a few gold midi rings. Because of the colder night temperatures I topped off the look with a vintage fur coat and a black and gold chain shoulder bag. Olivia Palermo’s Summery Top and Cigarette Jeans Is Your Weekend Style Guide

Olivia Palermo recently stepped out in one of fall’s chicest trends- the off the shoulder top. But it wasn’t just the top that was giving us serious style envy. From head to toe Olivia’s outfit was pure perfection. She was smart by pairing the looser top with a pair of tight cigarette jeans and didn’t shy away from piling on some accessories.

This outfit combo is the perfect mix of casual and style which makes it your new weekend style guide. When pairing a summery off the shoulder top and skinny jeans take a cue from Olivia and don’t be afraid to go bold with statement earrings, printed flats, and a color block bag. Statement Jewels and Skull Details

Last Saturday night, one of my best and oldest friends celebrated her birthday party at a bar/nightclub in our area. I decided that my outfit would be casual with a dose of glamour. I recently purchased these pants at Marshall’s and I am completely obsessed with them. They are actually from Hollister and have a jegging type feel minus the jean aspect. The front part of the pants have a leather look and feel to them which gives the pants and edgier vibe.  I was really surprised these pants were from Hollister because they didn’t come across with they typical California, Hollister look that I’m used to seeing. Besides the style and color the best part of these pants would have to be the fact that they were on clearance for $5.

I paired the pants with a white tank that I have had for years that’s from New York & Company and an oatmeal colored cardigan that I bought about a month ago. I actually found the cardigan in Walmart when I was returning a pair of slippers that didn’t fit my brother and with the cardigan’s length, color, and $7 price tag I couldn’t help, but purchase it. These heeled brown suede DV by Dolce Vita boots are my latest obsession. I love the lace up and buckle details on the boots and the fact that they zip up the side make them so easy to wear. They are also ridiculously comfortable and aside from style is there anything else you can hope for in a chic pair of shoes?

I’m all about accessorizing and for this outfit I decided to keep it simple yet statement worthy with a jeweled collar necklace and a neutral clutch. The jeweled collar necklace is a statement piece you may recognize from my last post and it’s currently available at Aldo in two color options. This clutch was given to me for Christmas by my best friend Alyssa who’s birthday party was the reason for this outfit and my favorite part of this bag is that the front is adorned with rose gold skulls. For anyone who knows me I love skulls and accessories that have chic skull details. Do you love finding major bargain buys during shopping trips? Tutus and Knits

I have loved the look of a tutu dress ever since Sarah Jessica Parker’s character Carrie Bradshaw made it famous in the Sex and the City series, but it wasn’t until a couple of months ago that I purchased one of these ballerina-esque dresses for myself. I bought this nude tank top style from one of my favorite boutiques in Manasquan called Katherine’s for $35. Although the way I styled the dress here it appears to look like a skirt, I do plan on styling it in a way that highlights the dress itself once the weather gets warmer.

Due to the cold I decided to pair the dress with one of my favorite sweaters that I got from H&M and my new over the knee flat boots from C Wonder. I love accessorizing so to finish the look I added a pair of over the knee black socks with the boots and a phenomenal statement necklace from Aldo that I received as a gift for my birthday.

I thought this outfit worked perfectly for a date night out at a lovely local restaurant. It was dressy yet casual at the same time. The look was also extremely comfortable and when paired with my fur stole and longer coat I wasn’t overly freezing in the frigid weather.

Weekend Wear

After a long week filled with snow and frigid weather, the weekend is finally here. While the weather doesn’t seem to be getting any warmer, at least there’s a couple days to relax and take a break from the hectic tendencies of the week. With temperatures in the teens and below it seems hard to even find the motivation to leave your house, but if you do choose to brave the outdoors here is a little outfit inspiration for you. Now depending on the weather this outfit will be amazing on its own, but with the dropping temperatures  you may want to style this outfit with an oversized parka or peacoat over the cape.

The look is simple yet chic with a pair of basic skinnies, a classy black blouse with an unexpected lace bottom, a black panama hat, a neutral cape with black details, and buckle strap heeled booties. The boots have cutouts where the straps are so don’t be afraid to pair them with socks during this time of year. I would pair them with a basic pair of black socks to keep the shoes the sole focus of your feet. If you’re feeling a little more daring feel free to put on a pair of vibrant or printed socks to make another fashion statement. Once the weather warms up these boots will look awesome sans socks. What will you be wearing this weekend?

Dainty and Delicate

Although I am still a lover of statement necklaces, I have recently been loving the look of delicate, dainty necklaces. From a style standpoint there is so much that can be done with simple chains and tiny details such as wearing one alone or layering a few in a way that adheres to your own personal style. Whether you’re a fan of gold or silver, charms or gems, the necklace styles are endless. If you’re looking to spend money and go the high end route, don’t be afraid to shop the latest designer gems. However, if you’re more into shopping on a budget and bargain buys, costume jewelry is or will be your best friend.

With that notion in mind, I’ve rounded up five dainty necklaces I’m currently lusting after. Start with one or snag a few for the right price. Short necklaces that hit under your collarbone are always a feminine and flirty choice, but simple drop necklaces can easily add some extra sexiness to outfits that include low cut dresses and tops. No matter what your personal style is, find your favorites and embrace your own look. How do you style delicate and dainty necklaces?

Hats and Scarves and Gloves. Oh My!

Although the snow is being plowed and shoveled away outdoors, that doesn’t mean that the cold weather is officially over. We have a few more months of frigid temperatures ahead of us and we might as well be prepared for it. And that my fashionistas means piling on the winter accessories. Hats, gloves, and scarves are all necessities during this time of year, but that doesn’t mean your choices have to lack style. Whether you’re a fan of fingerless gloves or can’t leave the house without your favorite beanie, there are tons of various options for you to choose from when it comes to winter wear.

I love cozy scarves, warm gloves and mittens, and stylish winter hats during the cold weather months and right now a lot of sites are putting these accessories on their list of sale items. Below I have rounded up different cold winter accessories that are all on sale and ready to be purchased. Shop these styles now to make sure you spend these last couple of winter months as chic as you are warm.

The frigid weather seems to be here to stay… at least for now, and although it’s terribly cold outside your fashion choices don’t need to suffer. Whether you prefer flat boots with a tough edge or heeled booties that can go from day to night, look no further.

I myself am a firm believer that the best winter wardrobe consists of lots of layers, chunky sweaters, blanket scarves, cold weather accessories, and of course a few amazing pairs of boots. Not only are the 10 boots below ever so stylish, but they are all under $76. At prices as low as $25, why not add a few pairs to your wardrobe? As enthusiastic as I am about shopping, I’m equally enthused about getting the best deals and bargains. In my opinion, it definitely pays to shop around for various deals and check out upcoming store promotions or site sales and promo codes. Also, for all the students out there a ton of stores do discounts when you show your student id so don’t forget to ask. Happy shopping fashionistas!
