Look of the day

When getting dressed this chilly morning I really did not know what to wear and to be completely honest I really did not want to get out of my over-sized comfy sweatshirt and yoga pants. Shivering I rummaged through my dresser and closet waiting for something to jump out at me, but found no such luck at first. I decided that layers would be my best friend today because if how cold it was in my apartment was any indication of the weather outside then I knew it had to be frigid out there. I was also getting ready to spend my day sipping lattes at Starbucks and doing homework until I couldn’t possibly look at my computer screen anymore, so I knew my outfit had to be as comfortable as it was fashionable. After a few minutes passed I finally decided on my favorite Beatles band tee from H&M, gray jeggings, a black cape sweater, and tan suede fringed Steve Madden boots. To top of my look I decided to go with the theme of the season and ‘put a beanie on it.’

Look of the day

When choosing what to wear this morning it did not take long for me to decide that today was going to be all about pairing style with comfort. Leggings are one of my favorite fashion go-to’s when I want to be comfortable without wearing sweatpants. When paired with the right pieces of clothing, leggings can help make your outfit effortlessly chic and cozy at the same time. Today I chose a pair of plain black fleece-lined leggings that I paired with a black lace bandeau and a slouchy long-sleeved shirt with an open back. For accessories I chose to add a statement necklace to my look because the front of my shirt was plain with the open back taking the spotlight. The necklace helped add a little more edge to the front of the look without taking away from the open back. To complete the look I put on a pair of riding boots that zip up the back and then I was out the door and on my way to class. Pairing comfort and style is the perfect fashion fix for a busy day of classes or work when you know you will be doing lots of running around. The best part of my look of the day besides it being both stylish and comfortable is that it is truly a look for less with the whole outfit without the boots totaling around $35. The top was on sale at Urban Outfitters for $9.99 and I purchased the lace bandeau which is GLO jeans by Jennifer Lopez at Kmart this summer for around $10, possibly a little cheaper. The leggings are Steve Madden, but I bought them at Marshall’s for $6.99 and I got the necklace at Forever 21 two years ago for around $8. My boots are Madden Girl by Steve Madden and I got them at Macy’s last year for my birthday. They were on sale as well and I believe the total for the boots was somewhere between $50-$60. Including the boots the outfit is still under $100 making this look of the day chic, comfortable, and affordable.
